Support A “Leash Free Dog Park”…
For Your Best Friend
Although city council for the City of Niagara Falls has approved in principle, the development of a “leash free dog park” it is still a long ways from making it a reality. Funding the park construction is still a major stumbling block as it is with many cities in these trying economic times.
To bring the dog park into being will require dog loving individuals like yourself to band together and help generate the capital required to meet this financial challenge. The city is looking for the community to raise 20% of the capital cost associated with this project.
As of this point in time we have been informed that Fireman’s Park will be the site of the first such leash free area to be developed. This gracious offering by the Fireman’s Association in allowing the park to be located on their property is much appreciated by all and will save us thousands of dollars in start-up cost. We thank them for their support.
To meet the challenge of fund raising, we will monetize the content of this site to help raise the money required for the construction of the park and for the ongoing maintenance and repairs that will be needed down the road.
As a visitor to this website you will be shown a variety of products, trials and or services referred to CPA, CPV or Affiliate offerings. A click-able link will be provided that will take you the company’s website where you can view further details and decide it what they offer meets with your expectation. Should you decide to accept their offer that company will pay us a financial commission for referring you to their websites. The money raised after expenses, refunds etc will be paid to the City of Niagara Falls and held in a special account that will be earmarked for our dog park project.
Every effort will be made to make sure your experience is enjoyable and safe. Should their be any issues not resolved by the vendor in a reasonable time frame… please use or contact page to inform us of your problem and we will make every effort to assist in a resolution to your concerns.
We will also provide areas on this site for companies to purchase advertising space based on a monthly fee or pay per view arrangements.
The last method of monetizing this domain, will be the addition of a “Donation Button” where individuals or groups may donate to the dog park fund. Details regarding donations and purchase are to be found on other pages within this website.

Our family totally supports a leash free dog park. In fact we are very disappointed that all the time and money spent on recreation the City has done nothing for the pet owners thus far, as so many of our Ont. Municipalities have.
Nevertheless this proposal is inadequate. It lacks vision and size. Have you ever been to Oshawa. Their leash free park is huge it incorporates large and small dogs, it leaves the dogs to sort things out themselves. It does not cater to dis-functional/vicious dogs. It has a large open area and pathways thru a natural conservation area that you can take your dogs.
William, I agree that not having a dog park has been disappointing but regarding your comment about the proposal being inadequate confuses me. The long term vision presented to the City for this park has the earmarks of a world class destination. However, as with anything that has a price tag on it, we must crawl before we run. If you would like to make a major donation at this point in time to help make our dreams a reality it would be most welcome. Let me know and I will get you the details on how to donate.
i think it is a shame that niagara falls does not have a dog park. i have to travel port colborne to socialize my dog with other animals. if port colborne has the funds why does niagara.
I think a leash free, fenced in dog park is a fantastic idea for Niagara Falls. Frankly I love the Burgoyne Woods park in St. Catharines due to the fact it has a seperate area for small and large dogs! I have 2 very small breed dogs and can’t trust large dogs that don’t know their own strength, to be around my little ones. I sit at firemans park right now on my blackberry just after my dogs were mauled by a large lab, with an owner who doesn’t seem to think a leash is necessary, or to actually come get his dog!
If you want a conservation area, then walk the trails with your dog leashed at firemans park, or go back to Oshawa if you are so fond of it. I want a small park for my small dogs where than can socialize with other small dogs. And I am sure the masses would agree.
Overdue.
I wonder, from where do the funds come to maintain the Burgoyne Woods dog park? How hard can it be to raise 20% of the capital needed for this project, especially if the Fireman’s Association is donating the land? Would it not make sense to canvas local businesses, and, instead of “monetizing” this domain (with a limited amount of traffic), offer advertising space on the fences that enclose the proposed park?
I’m surprised by the lack of any sort of visible sponsorship of the Burgoyne dog park. I, for one, would not be offended to see an advert or two (or twenty) tacked on the hundreds of metres of fencing. Surely this is the easy part!
The Burgoyne Dog Park resides in St. Catharines. Dog Park Niagara references and supports the new park that will be established in Niagara Falls. The Fireman’s Park area has just been approved by council for a park location and will be moving forward shortly. The monetizing of the Website is still under review. Traffic to the site may not be as limited as you think. As far as advertising is concerned that too is on the books for down the road.
Yes, I know the Burgoyne Woods is in St. Catherines, which is why I’m all for a similar park in Niagara Falls, since I live here but often drive there.

What sort of time frame are we talking about? Summer is upon us, and the announcement of the councils approval was back in January.
I live in Chippawa, and I have no place to let my sheperd off a leash so she can run free. Will you please consider putting a dog park here in our town. There are so many dogs that would love to have one.Plus we have seven baseball fields where a people from out of town bring their dogs, but have to keep them on a leash.Just think what it would mean if we have a dog park here, you would get a lot more people coming and they would tell their friends.Mayer Dieoddie promised us last fall that Chippawa would possibly have a dog park this year.

I certainly hope that the proposed Park at Firemans will change the attitude of those currently pretending it is already a leash free zone and they will keep a closer eye on their dogs.
A seperate small and large dog area is critical!
Many dog owners walk their dogs along Mountain Rd and the Haulage Rd. here in the north end. A leash free dog park is a fantastic idea allowing dogs to exercise and socialize. Millie Bush dog park in Houston, TX is a leash free park comprising 15 acres with 3 ponds, sectioned by small and large breeds. There are areas with hoses to bathe your dog and ground level fountains. The dogs enjoy jumping in for a swim and fetching tennis balls. It’s amazing how they get along. Kudos to the Volunteer Firemen for donating the land and to those who fought for this park. Where can I make a donation?
I am delighted that a dog park is being considered for Niagara Falls. I think many dog owners especially in the North End of the City, are already under the mistaken impression that they may walk their dogs around the subdivisons in that area without a leash. I have become terrified to walk my small dog because of the number of times I have had to fend off large unleased dogs being walked by inconsiderate owners. I would be interested to find out if there is anything that can be done about this problem. I hope when the dog park is complete that the unleased dogs will no longer be walked around my neighbourhood.
just got a new member of our family, a jug (jack/pug) and she to would enjoy to run free with small dogs that she can make friends with. so glad that i found this site look forward to hearing more updates. we are all in favor as a family to support the dog park in niagara falls and would be glad to make some kind of tribute to this cause. thank you to the fireman’s park for the land to start the dog leash free park.
